#FridayFandom: Author Interview with Emma Adams PLUS #GIVEAWAY

1. Tell us about your book in 140 characters or less:

17 y/o Leah survives an explosion that should have killed her. Now she may be the last hope for humanity against the invading fiends.

2. What would be the theme song for your book?
I don't usually have soundtracks. I write most of my books to the sound of rain hammering on the windows. (I live in the middle of England. ;))

3. What is your favorite YA movie and why?

That's a tough one. I'm going to go with The Hunger Games, because I recently saw the final one. It's one of the best book-to-screen adaptations I've seen.

4. What are you currently writing?
I'm working on an adult urban fantasy series.

5. What are you currently reading?
I recently finished Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, and I'm impatiently awaiting the sequel!

Thanks for chatting with us on this #FridayFandom!
Can't wait to check out all of your books!!

About INDESTRUCTIBLE:

Two years ago, the fiends invaded, with a devastating explosion that split the world in two. Even now, energy blasts strike without warning, destroying everything in their paths. The fiends hunt anyone unlucky enough to escape.

My name is Leah. An energy blast killed my group. It should have killed me, too. Instead, I woke up alone in the wilderness, stalked by the fiends.

My only hope is the red-cloaked strangers who call themselves the Pyros. They can do the impossible and make flames shoot from their hands. Right now, my one chance for safety -- and revenge -- is with them.

But they’re keeping secrets from me. Like those skeletons hidden under their base. And the reasons I developed a psychic link with someone who can’t stand the sight of me -- after he saved my life.

If I don’t uncover the truth about why the world ended the first time, my new safe haven might go up in smoke…

Indestructible is the first in a YA post-apocalyptic superhero-fantasy trilogy.

Emma is the author of various fantasy novels, including the universe-hopping urban fantasy Alliance series and the YA paranormal Darkworld series.

Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing speculative fiction with magic and monsters. She lives in the middle of England, but dreams of exploring the Multiverse. When she's not immersed in her own fictional worlds, Emma works as a freelance editor and proofreader and reads an improbable number of books.

#FridayFandom: Author Interview with Melissa Giorgio

1. Tell us about your books in 140 characters or less.

I have two series. Both are YA, but they’re very different from one another!

In The Fading Dusk, Irina, a street magician's assistant, must prove that her master hasn't been using actual, forbidden magic to commit murders.

The Silver Moon Saga is about Gabi, a normal sixteen-year-old who suddenly discovers demons are real, and she’s one of the few who can See them.

2. What would be the theme song for your books?

For The Fading Dusk, anything from the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie.

For the Silver Moon Saga books it’s “Happily Ever After” by He Is We.

3. What is your favorite book movie and why?

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It’s my favorite book in the series and I was beyond excited to see it on the big screen. I loved it so much I ended up seeing it four times in the theater (I’m not much of a moviegoer, so this is a big deal for me!).

4. What are you currently writing?

I’m in between projects. I just finished writing and editing a novella for the Smoke and Mirrors series (it’s set between books two and three and features an entirely different city and a whole new set of characters that will cross over into book three) and I’m about to start the first draft of book three. Even though it’s long process, I love drafting, so I’m looking forward to it!

5. What are you currently reading?

Paperweight by Meg Haston.

#FridayFandom: Author Interview with Suzanne van Rooyen

Today it is my pleasure to interview Suzanne van Rooyen, author of The Other Me (Harmony Ink Press) &I Heart Robot (Month9Books). Suzanne has an upcoming NA novel, Scardust, you can check out onGoodreads here. We’re lucky to get a sneak peek into her lovely mind.

1.      Tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.

This was hard! But here we go:
I ♥ Robot: A story about a girl and a robot-boy who love music, and how that girl and robot-boy accidentally discover might love each other.
image
The Other Me:  A girl who thinks she’s an alien falls for a boy with scars, but Treasa is willing to accept Gabriel’s baggage if he can accept who she longs to be.

2.      What would be the theme song for your books?

I ♥ Robot: Undoubtedly the song Human by Civil Twilight.
The Other Me:  This book mostly has a soundtrack of classical music by the likes of Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninov, sprinkled with a liberal amount of Marilyn Manson and Linkin Park. If there was one song to sum it all up, however, it would absolutely be The Story by 30 Seconds to Mars.

3.      Our last “M” for Monday post was on movies…specifically Mockingjay. What is your favorite YA movie and why?

Wow, this is so difficult! I mostly watch science fiction and fantasy, and have enjoyed quite a few of the YA adaptations in those genres like InkheartEragon (yeah, I know, but I ♥ Murtagh something fierce!), and theNarnia Chronicles. My favourite though is one I watched fairly recently, How I Live Now – in fact, all the adaptations featuring Saoirse Ronan are pretty high on my list.

We Read YA:  I have to jump in here and say I LOVEDHow I Live Now. Her transformation in the movie is great. *face palm* Can’t believe I have not read the book!

4.      What are you currently writing?

I’m currently working on a fantasy novel. Don’t want to say too much more about it ;)
We Read YA: I can’t wait to hear more!

5.      What are you currently reading?

Perdido Street Station by China Meiville & Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater.
We Read YA: More to add to my #TBR list!

Thanks for stopping by Suzanne. I want to add, that since our interview, Suzanne has had a cover reveal for SCARDUST, an NA sci-fi. See the cover on her blog here.

Author Bio:
The author of THE OTHER ME, I HEART ROBOT and the forthcoming SCARDUST, Suzanne is a tattooed storyteller from South Africa. She currently lives in Sweden and is busy making friends with the ghosts of her Viking ancestors. Although she has a Master’s degree in music, Suzanne prefers conjuring strange worlds and creating quirky characters. When she grows up, she wants to be an elf – until then, she spends her time (when not writing) wall climbing, buying far too many books, and entertaining her shiba inu, Lego.
