TRIUMPH OF CHAOS (RED MAGIC #3) by Jen McConnel PLUS #Giveaway #blogtour

Triumph of Chaos (Red Magic #3)
by Jen McConnel
Publication Date:  March 8, 2016
Publisher:  Month9Books

After the disaster in Europe, Darlena’s starting to get desperate. She knows the only way to
defeat Hecate and the other crazy Red Gods is by banding together with other Witches, but is it any wonder she has a hard time trusting them?

With Izzy’s support, Darlena begins making fragile strides toward repairing the mess she made,
but she just can’t catch a break. As chaos runs rampant around her, Darlena begins to think that things would be better if she’d never become a Red Witch in the first place. But there’s no way to change the past…is there?

The final book in the Red Magic series brings Darlena face to face with impossible odds, and a
terrifying choice.

Discuss your interest in pagan religions, when it started, and how it has made your series stronger.

I was first drawn to Paganism in high school when I read The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. That was also the year I got my first tarot deck and taught myself how to read cards, and from that time on, I began absorbing all the information on mythology and magic that I could get my hands on.

That foundation in mythology really provided the base for the Red Magic series, and I loved creating characters based on my understanding of various gods and goddesses. Although I drew on Pagan principles when writing this series, Darlena’s magic is not specifically meant to be representative of any of the contemporary Pagan religions; rather, it’s a fantasy world inspired by a variety of myths and traditions. I did weave the primary principal of Wicca into the series, though, giving Darlena and her community the same Rede which governs many contemporary witches: “an it harm none, do what you will”. Obviously, not all the witches in Darlena’s world follow that rule, but the Rede is pretty important to Darlena and her family.

I also drew on the traditional Celtic sabbats, or holidays, when I was writing this series. Darlena and her family celebrate the Winter Solstice at the beginning of Gods of Chaos, and, like me, they celebrate both Halloween and Samhain in the fall. However, the Pagan influences aren’t the driving focus of this series, but they definitely create a backdrop for the world of mythology and magic I envisioned when creating these characters.

Fantasy authors have always looked to various myths when building their fantasy worlds, and I had a lot of fun incorporating my knowledge of Greek mythology into Darlena’s story.

Thank you Jen! Your covers are beautiful and the series sounds amazing. We can't wait to read the last installment.

Blog Tour: MY HEART IS YOURS by Amanda Leigh @XpressoTours

My Heart is Yours by Amanda Leigh
Publication date: June 10th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Samantha Marie Ramsden has three brothers. Craig, John and Matt. When tragedy strikes their family, Craig takes on the task of becoming his siblings legal guardian. It’s hard enough being someone’s guardian, but when you’ve only recently entered adulthood yourself it’s almost impossible to know where to draw the line between sibling and ‘parent’.
This is made even harder on him when Sam starts to get close to a long time friend, Jason. It looks like their friendship could turn into something more. An idea that Craig has never been too happy with. Spanning six years, My Heart is Yours explores family, friendship, love and much more. As well as asking the question: Would you defy family for love?

We read on your Goodreads that the idea for My Heart Is Yours came to you in a dream when you were 15. Tell us about that dream and how you transformed it into the story it is today."

Honestly, even after I had the dream I didn’t remember a lot of details from it. All that I remembered from it was that I was in a small one story house. I had three brothers. I knew that two of them were older than me and one that was younger. (You know how you just know things in dreams?) I also somehow knew that I was adopted into that family and that they had been looking out for me since I was a little girl. But that was al that I knew.

When I woke up I remembered these things from the dream and started wondering what it would be like to be adopted into a family with three brothers. What would it be like to be the only girl? And since I hadn’t since them in the dream, I wondered where were their parents? The house looked small so I figured that they didn’t have a lot of money. How did they get by? What were their friends like? For some reason I just couldn’t stop thinking about all of these things. Basically it was a bunch of what ifs that led me to the story that ultimately became “My Heart is Yours”.

I wanted to know the answers to these questions. So I decided to write them for myself. My original intention was for it to be a short story. I just started writing and decided to see where the story went. I had some basic ideas and plot points in mind when I began the story but I had no idea how big the story was going to grow. It just kept growing. Eventually I had filled up a whole notebook with what I’d written so far and that was when I sat down to make an outline of where things were going. That was also when I decided to type up the story. It was clear then that it was much more than what I thought it was going to be.

So it started with a dream that led to a bunch of what ifs that lead to a story that was much more than what I originally thought. And eventually, it led to what “My Heart is Yours” is today.

#FridayFandom: Author Interview with Heather Young-Nichols

1. Tell us about your books in 140 characters or less.

The Up for Grabs series is about strong women, hot guys, and the love they can share if they get out of their own way. :)

UP FOR GRABS: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

UP FOR FOREVER: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

2. What would be the theme song for your books?

Up for Grabs would be Slut Like You by Pink, Up for Forever would be I Want You Back but I think the Colbie Caillat version. lol. As for Grounded...I'm really not sure. I'd have to listen to a lot of songs to figure that out.

UP FOR GRABS:

UP FOR FOREVER:

3. What is your favorite "book" movie and why?

My favorite book movie is Harry Potter. All of them. They did a great job sticking with the books, for the most part, and for me, they're timeless. I can watch them a hundred times (and may already have) and love them every single time.

4. What are you currently writing?

Right now, I'm working on the sequel to Grounded. It's about 10,000 words from being a first draft, which I'm really excited about.

5. What are you currently reading?

I'm currently reading the Dream Man series by Kristen Ashley. One book left to go and Detective Mitch Lawson is my boyfriend :D

Thanks for coming out today, Heather!
Can't wait to read your series!!

Lindsey needs to find some better luck and quick.
Trey Berger can barely tolerate Lindsey Taylor. It’s bad enough that their best friends are dating and he has to see Lindsey at group hangouts. Now they have to rehearse together. Berger would rather do just about anything else, even chill with his grandmother, whose dementia has forced her to move in with his family. But as the semester continues, Berger discovers there’s more to Lindsey than the drama queen persona she puts on for everyone else’s benefit. And the person behind the mask might be someone he cares about. A lot. So what exactly is he going to do about it? #BookReview: Ashes in the Sky by Jennifer Eaton @Month9Books

Ashes in the Sky (Fire in the Woods #2) by Jennifer M. Eaton
Publication Date: March 1, 2016
Publisher: Month9Books

After inadvertently saving the world, eighteen-year-old Jessica Martinez is ready to put adventure behind her and settle back into the familiar routine of high school.

Though when she’s offered an opportunity to photograph the inside of an alien space ship, Jess jumps at the chance. After all, she’d be crazy to turn something like that down, right?

Spending time with David on the ship has definite advantages and the two seem to pick up right where they left off. But when Jess discovers a plot to sabotage David’s efforts to establish a new home for his people on another planet, neither David’s advanced tech nor Jess’s smarts will be able to save them.

ASHES IN THE SKY is an action-packed, romantic Sci Fi adventure that will leave readers screaming for more.

Lately I've been impressed by sequels. Like, enjoying them more than their predecessor, which is a hard thing to do, when the first book in a series is the one that grabs your attention, makes you fall in love with the characters, and is that all consuming first impression you can never forget. But I have to say, I love ASHES IN THE SKY, even more than Book 1.

It could be the amazing world building that Eaton accomplishes, creating an alien ship made of non-earth elements, which is no simple feat. Though at times I found myself reading passed the scientific explanations, I still appreciated that they were implemented appropriately in the novel.

Oh and the romance builds, which I can't complain about. Seeing the passion between Jess and David continue is an added bonus. Especially when the twist comes early in the novel, adding to the life or death action and adventure.

Enjoy this series, it goes from great to amazing. But one warning I have to give is watch for the grassen.

Jennifer M. Eaton hails from the eastern shore of the North American Continent on planet Earth. Yes, regrettably, she is human, but please don’t hold that against her. While not traipsing through the galaxy looking for specimens for her space moth collection, she lives with her wonderfully supportive husband and three energetic offspring. (And a poodle who runs the spaceport when she’s not around.)

During infrequent excursions to her home planet of Earth, Jennifer enjoys long hikes in the woods, bicycling, swimming, snorkeling, and snuggling up by the fire with a great book; but great adventures are always a short shuttle ride away.
Who knows where we’ll end up next?
